Show your support for our progam with this lovely navy blue T-shirt, modeled by rider Ryan.  Silk-screened onto the front of each T-shirt is a silhouette of a lesson in progress, with “Special Equestrians” arching over it.

Sizes Children’s Small through Adult XXXL.  $10 each.  Makes a great gift for friends and family!

T-shirts are available at the barn, and we will continue ordering more as we sell out.

RIP, big man, you will be missed.

On Monday, April 5, 2010, Special Equestrians lost Trevor, one of our beloved therapy horses.  He succumbed to colic, a sadly common ailment among horses.  He will always be remembered fondly for his personality quirks, athleticism, and talent for teaching.  He was a valuable asset to our Therapeutic Riding, Silver Saddles, Youth Connections, REINS, and Able-Bodied programs, right up until the end, and he will be sorely missed.  Memorial donations may be sent to Tracey, and will support the care of all of Trevor’s equine friends.

It’s time to shake off this winter and welcome spring back to the barn!  There are lots of exciting events coming up, and we’d love you to be a part of them!  If you’re interested in any of the following events or opportunities, please contact Anne, or sign up at the barn.

  • Monday, April 19 – Group Volunteer Day – 40-50 volunteers from a local financial company will be coming to clean up the pastures, repair fencing, and do some major landscaping.  We need our volunteers to be project / group leaders to make sure we get tons of great stuff done!  There is a sign-up sheet at the barn.
  • Saturday, April 24 – Group Volunteer Day – Around 100 volunteers from Comcast will be renovating and expanding the Sensory Trail to make it fantastic for the summer.  We need our volunteers to be project / group leaders to make sure we get tons of great stuff done!  There is a sign-up sheet at the barn.
  • Attention Gardeners!  If you’re splitting plants this spring, please consider bringing some of them to the barn, before April 19, or whenever you can.  Deer resistant, drought tolerant, sun-loving plants will be happiest here!
  • Sunday, May 16 – Student Horse Show - Our riders will need lots of volunteer help to showcase their skills to friends and family.  There is a sign-up sheet at the barn.
  • Monday, May 17 – Golf Outing – Join us at Commonwealth National Golf Club for a great day of golfing and supporting our cause!  Sponsors and golfers are still needed.  More information can be found here.
  • Saturday, May 29 – Thorncroft Horse Show - Our riders will need lots of volunteer help to travel to Malvern, PA and show off their skills with other therapeutic riding programs.  There is a sign-up sheet at the barn.
  • Summer Camp!  We had so much fun at summer camp last year that we just have to do it again!  We will need at least 16 volunteers every day from 8:30 to 2:00, Monday through Thursday, for the weeks of June 28, August 9, and August 16.  There is a sign-up sheet at the barn.

Come on out and have fun at Special Equestrians today!

Hey everyone, just an update on scheduling: there will be no lessons December 24, 25, 26, 31, and January 1. There are lessons scheduled for December 28, 29, 30, and January 2.

If there are lessons on your regular day, please come – we really need the help! If you’d like to come help barn staff care for the horses, come any day 7-9 am or 3-5 pm.

See you soon, and have a safe and happy holiday season!

Do you enjoy wrapping books in pretty paper?  Like getting Scotch tape stuck on your clothes?  Want to support SE in a totally new and fun way?

Then a gift-wrapping party at Borders in Warrington may be just right for you!  Borders has kindly invited us to bring 3-4 volunteers for several hours of wrapping.  Borders customers will give us their purchases and we’ll wrap them.  We’ll have a tip/donation jar and information on the table, so it’s a great way to let the local community know who we are and what we do.

We haven’t picked a date yet – we’re waiting on response from you about how many people are interested and when they can come.  The opportunity exists from Black Friday through Christmas, on any day or evening.

Call Anne at (215) 918-1001 x. 103 if this sounds like fun to you.  Anne thinks it’s fun!  Anne will be there!  Come too, and bother Anne!  Yeay!
